H.E.R. continues to rack up at the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
As the Academy & GRAMMY Award-winning superstar gears up to hit the road as the supporting act on ColdPlay‘s forthcoming world tour (followed by her own Stateside jaunt), she’s learned her hit song ‘Damage’ continues to do just that on streaming and digital sales platforms – over a year-and-a-half after its release.
On March 2, the RIAA took to press to announce ‘Damage’ – the Cardiak-produced lead single from H.E.R.’s debut album ‘Back of My Mind’ – had crossed the organization’s threshold for double Platinum status. This means it’s sold over 2 million copies in the United States.
The song already marks a milestone in the singer’s celebrated discography as it’s her highest-charting solo hit, but now – thanks to ongoing commercial attention – it celebrates another win as the fifth multi-Platinum hit of her career.
Its success follows her previously multi-certified hits ‘Focus’ (2x Platinum), ‘Best Part’ (5x Platinum), ‘Could’ve Been’ (2x Platinum), and ‘Slide’ (3x Platinum).
Coupled with her other RIAA-recognized releases, H.E.R.’s cumulative digital sales now sit at 20 million in the U.S.

In general, I think it may be quite easy for artist to certify platinum and gold records, due to padded streaming numbers. I understand, its apart of their industry as artist have to promote themselves. No different then radio, shipping a certain amount of CDs to stores back in the day….
